Barrelheads was founded in London in 2013 with a straightforward idea: the drinks industry rewards genuine attention. Whether that means sitting with a private collector to understand their palate, or working alongside a brand owner to build a commercial strategy that actually delivers — the principle is the same. Listen first. Then act with focus.

On one side of the business, we operate The Private Cellar — a bespoke wine education and cellar advisory programme for individuals who want to understand what they drink, not just collect it. On the other, we partner with drinks brands across gin, tequila, mezcal, prosecco, rosé, whisky, lager, and more — providing the strategic sales, distribution, and brand development infrastructure they need to grow in the UK, Europe, and beyond.

What connects both sides is a deliberate refusal to operate at scale for its own sake. We keep our client list small and our brand portfolio focused. Every relationship gets proper attention. That is how we were built, and it is how we intend to stay.

For Private Collectors

The Private Cellar

A personal wine education and discovery programme built entirely around you. Every programme begins with a detailed questionnaire and a genuine conversation — we learn your palate, your pace, your curiosity, and your dietary needs. Then we design a 12-month curriculum from scratch.

Each month, a curated six-bottle case arrives at your door with tasting notes written specifically for you. Depending on your programme, you may also have monthly tasting sessions with your sommelier, on-call guidance by text, vineyard trips, and more. Wines are sourced from 29 regions across 12 countries — chosen for what they teach, not what they cost.
